NEC Classic Car Show Sale breaks all records!

Wow! What a fantastic weekend Silverstone Auctions has just enjoyed at the NEC Classic Car Show. Holding two sales over two separate days for the first time proved to be an excellent format for both buyers and sellers, creating a more relaxed atmosphere and shorter more punchy sales.

The results were incredible with an exceptional sales rate of over 80% achieved and a premium inclusive sales total of over £2.8 million pounds! An impressive 85 vehicles were sold in total over the two days.

Highlights included the sale of an Aston Martin DB5 for £358,000, nearly £80,000 over lower estimate and an Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk III selling for £220,800.

British classics were popular throughout with a Lister Jaguar XJS 7.0 litre Le Mans Coupe eventually selling for £56,875, more than twice it's pre-sale estimate.  A 1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadster fetched £85,881, nearly £19,000 over over it's lower estimate.

The sale of an amazing 1985 Ford RS200 for £104,650 and a 1986 Sierra RS Cosworth, formerly belonging to Cosworth's co-founder Mike Costin, indicate that iconic Fords from the 1980's could well be among the next crop of classics to significantly rise in value.

Cars from further afield also proved extremely popular with two Ferraris, a 1982 512 BBi and a 1988 328 GTS, achieving £109,200 and £40,609 respectively.

The amazing and unique 1970 IKA Tornio 380S owned by the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio lived up to it's pre-sale excitement fetching a strong £27,900.

The fine wines, exquisite leather goods, rare watches and jewellery that we now offer as a "Lifestyle" sale, all sold well to an enthusiastic audience for £173,000.  Contributing to this was a very rare ex-Ayrton Senna race suit, which sold for £15,730.

Finally, we even managed to raise  £1,500 for the BBC Children in Need Appeal when we ran out of catalogues and charged a £5 admission fee!

A fantastic sale all round for vendors and buyers whom I thank sincerely for their support.

Entries are now open and welcome for our next sale - the Race-Retro Sale at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire on 22nd February 2014.

Carfest South sells 52 classics!

A highly successful Carfest South took place over the bank holiday weekend at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire, with over 25,000 people in attendance.

It was a fantastic weekend for Silverstone Auctions with 52 out of 70 entries finding new homes with very satisfied vendors and buyers alike. Over £800,000 worth of cars and charity items were sold, including some special Lots auctioned personally by Chris Evans and Seasick Steve.
Infact the whole team worked tirelessly and completed their third auction in a month to raise an incredible £169,600 for BBC Children in Need.

Camper King worked very hard and converted a NW Sportscars VW van during the weekend, which was then auctioned for charity - raising over £10k for Children in Need, when it sold for over £22,000 under the hammer.
Overall a superb result for all involved and a sincere thank you to all our vendors, purchasers, under bidders and supporters.

Our next big sale is the NEC Classic Car Show Sale on the 16th November and entries are now invited.
It's a very prestigious sale in our annual calendar and entries are limited so please talk to us about your classic as soon as you can.

Many thanks.

Carfest North raises over £115,000 for Pudsey!

The Silverstone Auctions team - fresh from their recent success at the Silverstone Classic - arrived at Oulton Park on the weekend of 4/5th August to a fun charity sale with petrol head, Chris Evans, and set about selling 20 or so value classic cars to the enthusiastic audience, but more importantly raising £115,651 for BBC Children in Need from the stunning charity Lots on offer.

Star of the show was the awesome Vicarage Jaguar E-Type which the very generous vendor had offered all sale proceeds to the charity direct. The beautiful car raised £73,025, including £7,500 donated from Silverstone Auctions selling fees. A great result for everybody involved. I was personally delighted and extremely proud of our whole team.

Our new Camper King partners generously combined with Nick Whale Sportscars and converted a second hand van (for free!) during the festival which sold eventually for £22,425 with over £6,000 going directly to BBC Children in Need.

A stunning result all round and we are now only halfway through Carfest - with the sale at Carfest South coming up on the bank holiday weekend of August 24/25th - at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire.

A diverse and eclectic entry includes 72 classic cars, an historic caravan and an ex Harry Potter motorcycle...

Tickets are available for the day and all the Lots can be seen, including some amazing charity Lots, at www.silverstoneauctions.com

Don't miss it....!

Silverstone Classic Sale - stunning result!

Saturday the 27th of July 2013 set a new record for Silverstone Auctions at the Silverstone Classic Sale when over £2m worth of cars were sold at one event, with over two thirds of the classic cars finding new homes as well as 8 competition cars.

I was delighted with this result for vendors and purchasers alike and proud that the team broke the £2m barrier for the first time. Notable results were achieved from the Aston Martin DB 5 selling for £373,750 and the ex-Des O'Connor DB 6 selling for £147,200.

The unique 500 mile Jaguar XK 150 'S' Roadster broke a UK record when it achieved £201,250 and had a fascinating story to tell of it's exploits on the Bonneville Salt Flats in the late 1950's....

Even the original ex Enid Blyton Noddy Car, or Fiat Gamine, made an impressive £29,325 as well as the ex-Bernie Ecclestone Ferrari 456 reaching a strong  £34,500.

But perhaps the most encouraging prices achieved were for an absolutely original Lotus Cortina, with just 2 owners from new, achieving double it's pre-sale estimate and selling for £38,525 and the very last UK market Honda NSX Targa achieving a strong £80,500 - which may seem cheap in years to come...

Overall a great sale was enjoyed by all and our new Lifestyle products were popular with customers and particularly the ladies. Providing a pleasant distraction from the cars, we sold nearly all the watches, jewellery and leather goods for a record sale of over £100,000.

This format will be repeated at the NEC Classic Car Show sale in November and we look forward to seeing you there.

Sales Success at Silverstone

The International Classic Sale took place on Friday 17th May 2013 in the Wing at Silverstone, with excellent results for vendors and purchasers alike.

40 cars worth a total of £920,000 changed hands out of the 61 cars entered, giving us a sales rate of 66% on the day with plenty of post sale deals under discussion.

Additionally the first 'Lifestyle' sale was deemed a success with our quality leather goods nearly selling out and a strong following for both watches and antique jewellery. We will repeat our Lifestyle sale at our next event at the Silverstone Classic on July 27th at Silverstone, with more emphasis on watches, antique jewellery and leather goods.

The Sunday sale of European motorhomes had a more modest attendance but still new homes were found for 9 of the motorhomes in the sale with post sale deals still on going. We will be repeating our involvement with motor homes at both the Carfest events (North and South) taking place this August.

Entries are now invited for our biggest and most popular sale of the year on 27th July -The Silverstone Classic Sale, which is an integral part of the Silverstone Classic Festival (26-28th July) of historic motorsport and rock music. Over 100,000 advance tickets have been pre-sold for this tremendous event and we look forward to seeing you there.

Fantastic Result at Race-Retro

A great catalogue of over 80 classic cars, race cars and motorcycles were entered for the last sale by Silverstone Auctions at Race Retro on Saturday Feb 23rd 2013. With over 70 Lots of Automobilia offered and sold, the total sale for cars, bikes and Automobilia generated £1,542,845 worth of turnover with just under 50 cars sold in total.

In addition to the 5 competition cars and 2 bikes sold, the classic cars generated a sales rate of 68% and both buyers and sellers were all delighted with the result.

Highlights included both a London Routemaster bus (£20,700) and a London 'black cab' (£2,760), along with a beautiful Aston Martin DB6 (£122,980) in Aston's centenary year and an amazing Connaught Grand-Prix car (£195,000).

Local firm Land-Rover will be proud with the price achieved for a completely restored 1952 Land Rover 80' of £33,580. Even a humble Ford Capri achieved £10,522, albeit one fitted with a Chevrolet V8!

Overall a second great sale at Race-Retro where Silverstone Auctions will once again return in 2014.

Meanwhile our focus now turns to inviting entries for the next sale at our home venue of The Wing at Silverstone Circuit on Friday 17th May 2013. Please contact any of our team at www.silverstoneauctions.com with details of any classic car or motorcycle that you may wish to enter.
